Up | Promise Place Moves | Hoagies & High Fashion

WHY?
To raise much needed funds for Promise Place, Fayette County's Council on Domestic Violence, as they open the doors of the county's first emergency shelter. Promise Place is a non-governmental, non-profit agency that provides comprehensive services to adults and children who are victims of domestic violence within the Griffin Judicial circuit, which includes Fayette, Spalding, Pike and Upson Counties. Over the past 20 years, Promise Place has grown from a small grassroots organization to active, community recognized agency with four paid staff members and more than 50 volunteers. But the biggest step is about to take place as Promise Place opens the first emergency shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, and works toward providing a much needed resource in the area. Money from this special event will go toward getting the home ready for occupancy by May 1, 2007.

Tickets are on sale throughout Fayette County at Alpha Internal Medicine, Boulignini’s, La Vie Boutique, Lizard Thicket, My Favorite Things, Smith and Davis, and both Fayetteville Heritage Bank locations. General admission tickets and Corporate Sponsorships can be purchased from Fayette County Chamber members: Barbara Stevens with Heritage Bank at 770-515-7001, Alice Mallory with Mallory Aviation Services at 770-461-6074 and Mary Jane Holt or Rhonda Mauney with AIM at 770-719-5490. Alpha Internal Medicine, on Georgia 85 south behind ABC Pediatrics, will accept credit card ticket purchases.

Board Certified Internist, Dr. Carrie Collins, on staff at AIM, said “I am glad to play a role in bringing attention to domestic violence and abuse. It is a widespread problem that crosses all socioeconomic boundaries and is too under reported in the media.” Dr. Collins along with other professionals at AIM, and a number of concerned Fayette Chamber of Commerce members, as well, will actively participate in the Hoagies and High Fashion event. Gift bags with coupons from participating fashion retailers will be given to all ticket holders during this exciting evening of entertainment.
