2-6-07 Charlie Whitfield of Ravin Homes was selected
as the 2006 "Superintendent of the Year" for Peachtree City during the
annual awards presentation at the Peachtree City Council meeting on
Thursday night, Jan. 18.
Tom Carty, the city's Building Official, said the annual building awards
were from the entire Peachtree City developmental staff, which includes
the Planning, Engineering and Building Departments.
Commenting on the award presented to Whitfield, Carty said, "Charlie is
the type of superintendent that you want to build your home. He always
pays attention to details, working closely with the field inspectors and
the office staff from the time that the permit application is applied
until the Certificate of Occupancy is issued. He is a very experienced
superintendent, and Peachtree City is proud to recognize him for all his
efforts to improve the building industry."
Whitfield, a resident of the Stonebriar subdivision in Fayetteville, heads
up building in Ravin Homes' Cedarcroft community in Peachtree City, where
the third and final phase is about to open. In the building industry for
more than 20 years, he joined Ravin six years ago. Over the years, he has
built from 500 to 600 homes.
The 220-home Cedarcroft community is off MacDuff Parkway, which runs off
Highway 54 West a short distance west of Highway 74 North. The home prices
in the community begin in the low $200,000s, and there will be 72
homesites in the final phase.
Ravin Homes Inc. was founded by Vincent F. Rossetti, a homebuilder for
more than 50 years, who began building in Peachtree City and Fayette
County, Georgia, in 1974 after years of success in other well known
planned communities such as Columbia, Md., and The Woodlands in Houston,
Tx. In 1979, his oldest son Michael, who currently serves as president,
joined the company, and in 1982, Ravin Homes was incorporated. Vince
Rossetti's daughter, DeSales deGolian, joined the firm in 1990 and is
currently a senior vice president.
Ravin Homes' approach to building homes is to operate the business with
the values and needs of its customers firmly in mind. Since the company's
inception, a major focus has been to design and build homes specifically
for each individual family as opposed to building "cookie cutter" homes.
