Les Miserables at the Fred was phenomenal!
The Peach Pickers, a local satellite group of dulcimer players,
is associated with the North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Association, (www.ngfda.org).
The group meets monthly in Peachtree City, plays for the pure enjoyment
of this Appalachian mountain instrument and promotes the lore of folk
music, bluegrass and old time fiddle tunes. New members and "wannabes"

Southern Nights Chorale
is a men's A
Cappella singing group located in Fayette County, Georgia. Songs are
performed in harmony parts TTBB. Practice is every Monday Evening
at 7:15 PM at Dogwood Forest, 1294 Hwy 54 (across from Fayette County
Hospital). Southern

The Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra
The
Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra
devoted to meeting the cultural needs of audiences and performers
in the Southern Crescent area of Metro Atlanta. Members of the
orchestra include professional musicians, music educators, amateur
musicians and students, all of whom strive to utilize their full
potential in presenting a quality musical product. Performances
are held in the Clayton County Schools Performing Arts Center, the
Henry County Schools Performing Arts Center and other area venues.
The SCSO is conducted by Dr. Richard Bell. For more information

4-5-07 Alan Kim and Elizabeth Schmidt represented J.C. Booth
Middle at the Georgia Music Educators Association Middle School All State
Orchestra. The students performed with the
orchestra in March at the Savannah Civic Center. Performers were
selected by audition and included students from throughout the
state.
9-10-07 Last week we featured the
"pre-game" warm-up... This week, courtesy of one of the Booth Middle School
Chorus parents, we're featuring the group AT the Braves game singing. You'll be
able to enjoy the chorus singing the National Anthem twice! FFP Note: A few have said the

3/5/08 (7:42 p.m.) Six Starr’s Mill High School Chorus
students recently participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA)
All-State Reading Chorus. The All-State Site Reading Chorus promotes
advanced vocal sight-reading and exposes the students to top quality choral
literature. The group was comprised of 100 students from around the state
of Georgia. The conductor for the event was Dr. Rod Codwell. The All-State
Reading Chorus met and performed January 24- 26 in Savannah, Georgia.

11/17/07 (9:31 p.m.) Representatives from the U.S.
Army All-American Bowl were in the area recently to recognize three
Starr's Mill High School Band members chosen to participate in the
inaugural U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. The army
representatives, along with Fayetteville Mayor Ken Steele, Peachtree City
Councilman Stuart Kourajian and Fayette County School Superintendent Dr.
John DeCotis, participated in a pep rally at the school to honor the
students and extend an official invitation to join 91 high school seniors
from around the country to perform at the U. S. Army All-American Bowl on
January 5, 2008.The three students will receive an all-expenses paid trip
to San Antonio to participate in the bowl game festivities and will be
recognized along with the participating high school football players. The
game will be televised on NBC.

Booth Middle School 6th
Grade Chorus Has "Note"-worthy Talent
10/25/07 The JC Booth Middle
School 6th grade chorus demonstrated their vocal accomplishments last week.
Under the direction of Rachel Green, these young singers sang a variety of
songs to the patrons and parents. Interspersed between the vocalists were
piano solos performed by some of the students. Their next scheduled
performance is on December 3rd.

2-28-07 Guests of the Walt Disney World Resort in
Florida recently enjoyed a performance by Whitewater
High’s orchestra students as part of the theme park’s
Disney Magic Music Days.
The students became stars of their
own Disney show on February 21 when they took to the
stage at Magic Kingdom Park. Performing arts ensembles
from throughout the country apply to perform at the
event each year. Once selected, ensembles are given the
opportunity to perform at the resort for an
international audience of theme park guests.
Disney Magic Days is part of the
Disney Performing Arts Programs, which offer band,
choral, dance and auxiliary performers the opportunity
to learn, perform and compete at the Walt Disney World
Resort.
2-16-07Over 500 young musicians converged on Rising Starr
Middle in the hopes of being selected for this year's
District Honor Band Clinic sponsored by the Georgia
Music Educator's Association (GMEA).
The school served as the 2007 host
for the two-day music clinic that attracted hopeful
students from throughout District 6, which includes
Fayette, Coweta, Henry, Griffin-Spalding and Clayton
counties. After a grueling audition, approximately 175
students, including some from Fayette, were selected to
participate.
The clinic consisted of four bands,
two made up of middle school students, one band for 9th
and another for 10th graders, and one each for high
school juniors and seniors. The bands rehearsed
constantly for a day and a half before giving an
astonishing performance.
