According to the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies,
there are over 120 million homes more than 32 years old. $233
billion is spent annually on remodeling work. Remodeling
accounts for 40 percent of residential construction spending
which is two percent of the US economy. In 2003 alone, over 800,000
room additions were constructed, most by professional remodeling

data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. In 2005, one in

for Professionalism by earning a Silver Award in the 2006 competition.
The OBIE Awards is the annual program hosted by the Sales and Marketing
Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. The black-tie

9/19/06 Members of the Home Builders
Association of Midwest Georgia and their guests gathered at the
Depot in Tyrone recently for a western-style Saloon and Casino
Night of fantasy gambling complete with craps table, slot
machines, poker and blackjack. Net proceeds from the event will
help fund scholarships for students enrolled in Griffin Technical
College's Construction Management Diploma program, a curriculum
that qualifies graduates for a variety of careers in the building
industry.
The 700-member Home Builders Association of Midwest
Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether,
Heard, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Butts and Jasper Counties. More
