We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

1/10/08 (4:51 p.m.) Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services has decided to lift
the current outdoor burning ban. Interim Director Allen McCullough, states
“Effective Friday, January 11, 2008 at 08:00, I have authorized the Fayette
County Fire Marshal to lift the burning ban which was placed into effect in the
Fall as a result of drought conditions. Both the Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire
Prevention as well as Fayette County Emergency Management officials will be
closely monitoring environmental parameters and other indicators to assure that
outdoor burning conditions are safe for our community and our citizens”
According to Fire Marshal Captain David Scarbrough, recent
rains were the driving force behind the ban being lifted. Deputy Chief Tom
Bartlett encourages citizens to use safety precautions while burning and
continue to use the automated burn permit line, (770)460-5730 extension 5468, to
obtain a permit to burn. Citizens are required to call every day they wish to
burn. If conditions deteriorate, then the burn ban may once again be put in
place. The lifting of the outdoor burning ban applies to residents living in
unincorporated Fayette County, Brooks, Woolsey and Tyrone. For a list of burning
guidelines and safety tips citizens can call the automated burn permit line or
