We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

All Saints Anglicans Huddle At National
Convention
2/10/08 (5:06 p.m.) A dozen members of Peachtree City’s All
Saints Anglican Church recently met in Herndon, Virginia with a thousand
like-minded Christians at the first National Convention of the Convocation of
Anglicans in North America (CANA).
The All Saints group focused largely on the Ordination and
Consecration of Bishop David Anderson of Atlanta, the leader of CANA
Anglicans in the southeastern U.S. Three Bishops from other CANA districts
were also consecrated. Anglicans from Europe, South America, the Middle East
and Africa were also present to observe and worship.
All Saints Anglicans met in Herndon, Virginia with
worshippers from several other regions for the first National Convention
of the Convocation of Anglicans in North American (CANA). From left, All
Saints member John Stevenson, Gemeca Delano, and All Saints Rector, Rev.
Michael Fry.
“It was thrilling to see Archbishops and Bishops from around
the world come together to install the Suffragan Bishops,” said All Saints
Junior Warden Kathy Aspden. “At the appropriate moment, over 20 Bishops laid
hands on each candidate and prayed as Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria
conducted the ceremony. The service was concluded as those same 20 Bishops
served Holy Communion.”
All Saints parishioner Charlotte Stevenson was moved by the
exuberance and the colorful garb of the many Nigerian worshippers on hand.
“These cultures are so different, yet the spirit is the spirit. Their warmth
was infectious and their enthusiasm was visible.”
“I was touched this day,” said Stevenson. “ Not only by
the pomp and circumstance, and the jubilant celebrations but also by the
sincerity of all those who gathered together. It was, all in all, a very
serious event; a very important statement was made.”

Anderson of Atlanta. Aspden was a delegate at the convention and was on
hand for the consecration of Anderson as Bishop.
CANA is led by Missionary Bishop Martyn Minns and is affiliated
with the Anglican Church of Nigeria. It consists of about 60 congregations
and 100 clergy in 20 states. CANA is part of the Common Cause partnership
which includes 250 Anglican congregations that are connected to the Anglican
Communion.
