Saints Anglican Church, discusses ministry plans with Senior
Warden Kent McVay (left) and Junior Warden French Bell.
10/2/09 All Saints Anglican Church (ASAC) of Peachtree City has
moved into “new digs” at Peachtree Parkway and Windgate
Road, after signing a lease agreement with Peachtree City
United Methodist Church (PTCUMC).
ASAC leaders have outlined plans to eventually buy the
property. The building that is now the PTCUMC youth center
is expected to be shared by the two churches until PTCUMC
moves its youth and children's ministries to its main
location on Robinson Road.
The agreement ends an ASAC property search that began
when the orthodox Anglican church was formed in early 2007.
Since July of that year, ASAC has leased a suite at Kelly
Drive and Dividend Road. Rapid parish growth and long term
ministry plans and objectives demanded a larger, more
permanent facility.
“This is not about a building,” said ASAC Rector,
Reverend Michael Fry. “This is about acquiring the means to
accomplish our Lord's work--a facility adequate for
ministries touching the entire community. Anglicanism has a
unique niche in the body of Christ. God has called us to
reach those who are attracted to a Biblical faith,
transcendent worship, and the Apostolic tradition.”
The 34,000 square feet facility is located on a plot of
nearly six acres. PTCUMC was officially formed in 1975 and
obtained the Windgate property in two separate purchases in
1976 and 1981. The sanctuary was consecrated in 1984.
Herzen And one, PTCUMC Pastor said, “Many people may
find it difficult to wrap their brains around the concept of
two churches doing ministry out of one building. But, the
good people of PTCUMC saw the greater potential in working
together in order to advance God's purpose in the world. So,
from the very beginning, we were committed to looking for
ways to make this relationship with our sisters and brothers
of ASAC work for the sake of God's kingdom.”
ASAC is part of the recently created Anglican Church of
North America led by Archbishop Robert Duncan, and is also
affiliated with the Convocation of Anglicans in North
America.
The offices of ASAC are located on the second floor.
Sunday Holy Communion service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday
Evening Prayer and potluck supper are at 6:15 p.m. Questions
may be directed to the church office at 770-486-5374.
