FEBRUARYBig Apple CircusIt’s their 30th season and Big Apple Circus is throwing a birthday bash with this year’s brand new show, Celebrate! Watch in amazement as jugglers, capering dogs, high-prancing horses and acrobats perform in a single ring under the famous Big Top tent. For ticket information call Ticketmaster at 404-249-6400. DATES: Feb. 8-23 MARCH64th Annual Easter Sunrise ServiceExperience serenity and peace as the Stone Mountain Ministerial Association presents two simultaneous, non-denominational Easter services at the top of Stone Mountain and at the base of the mountain on Memorial Lawn. Park gates and Summit Skyride open at 4am. Services begin at approximately 6:15am. Please allow an extra hour or more for large crowds. Vehicle entry to the park is $8 cash for a one-day permit or $35 for annual permit. Church vans and buses enter free. Round-trip Skyride fees are $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for children 3-11 and $5.50 one-way. There are no fees for the walk-up trail to the top of the mountain. Exclusively at Stone Mountain Park, the Yellow Daisy Festival hosts more than 500 artists and crafters from all over the United States. Gather your friends for four days of shopping, live entertainment, children’s activities and mouth-watering festival foods. The Yellow Daisy Festival is free. The Chili Cook-Off draws more than 300 teams competing for “Best Of”, “People’s Choice” and “Showmanship” awards in competition categories such as Chili, Brunswick Stew and Cornbread. More than $10,000 in prize money is awarded. Sample the great food and participate in a variety of contests. The event’s proceeds support Camp Twin Lakes, a non-profit that offers year-round recreational, therapeutic and educational programs for children facing serious illnesses and other physical, emotional and life challenges.
