We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.
- Henry Melville

Chapter DAR Regent Betty Harrah and Honor Flight Fayette CoFounder Gail Sparrow
3/4/08 (8:20 a.m.) "I'm a baby boomer, and the way I've lived my
life is because of the war these brave men won," Gail Sparrow told members of
the James Waldrop Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently.
Honor Flight Fayette is a local non profit group whose mission
is to provide as many World War II veterans the opportunity to see the World War
II Memorial at no charge. Joining the roughly 70 veterans on the first flight
will be a physician, four EMTs and guardians to assist the veterans with their
needs. A local church has donated the buses necessary to transport the veterans
and their trip guardians to the Atlanta Airport on May 14th.
Many local organizations, including the James Waldrop Chapter
DAR, will be volunteering their time and efforts to assist the veterans of
"America's Greatest Generation" as they get ready for this inaugural flight.
