Whitewater High School Baseball Team Helps Decorate Southwest Christian Care Facility
11/8/07 (8:51 a.m.) For the fourth year the Whitewater High
School Baseball program and fellow students have decorated the Southwest
Christian Care Facility and Hospice for Christmas. On Saturday, November
3rd, over 70 students and family members spent their afternoon putting
trees together and decorating them, hanging lights, hanging wreaths and
hanging garland. The staff of the care facility was overwhelmed with the
amount of help and how fast the decorations came together. Next week the
baseball program will begin its Baseball Santa Program. This will be the
fifth year that the baseball team has supported one or more local families
to help them have a joyous Christmas.
Coach Dixon states that “this effort is just one of the many ways that the Whitewater High students are involved in community service.” Last year the students of Whitewater High raised over $22,000 for the Pennies for Patients program to help in the research of Leukemia and Lymphoma. This figure put the school in sixth place in the nation for this special program. The administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents are very proud of these students who worked hard in decorating the care facility. They make us “Proud to Be a Wildcat.”
