Honor Those Who Fought in World War II Tomorrow!
On Wednesday, May 14, over 70 World War II veterans will
depart Fayetteville, Georgia, en route to the Nation's capital to visit their
World War II Memorial. The Veterans will gather at Fayetteville First United
Methodist Church on Lanier Avenue in Fayetteville at 5:45 AM for breakfast.
At approximately 6:45, the veterans will depart via bus en route to
Hartsfield Jackson airport for their departure to the Nation's Capital. We
want our community to give them a dynamite send off!
Well wishers will start forming on Lanier Avenue and Glenn Street at
approximately 6:15 AM, Wednesday, 14 May. Suggest you bring flags, and sport
the Red, White and Blue. Understand this is an early morning start, but your
presence will be extremely meaningful to those that gave so much to each of

American Legion Honors Law Enforcement and
Emergency Services
American Legion Fayette County Post 105 annually honors the
outstanding members of the community law enforcement and emergency services
with their 2008 Public Safety Awards. This year's award recipients are Lt
Dean Johnson, Tyrone Police Dept, Lt Scott Gibson, Fayetteville Police Dept,
Cpl Robert Todd, Peachtree City Police Dept, Paramedic Norman Gibby, Fayette
County Fire and Emergency Services, Sgt Kevin Baggett, Peachtree City Fire
Dept, Lt Mike Matthews, Fayetteville Fire Dept, Deputy Thomas Gillespie,
Fayette County Marshal's Office, Capt H.L. Meyer, Fayette County Sheriff's
Office. Post 105 meets on the second Monday of the month at the Log Cabin in
Fayetteville.

Congressman Westmoreland Addresses Senior Issues at Chamber
Luncheon
5/5/08 (7:25 a.m.) Recently Congressman Lynn Westmoreland was the
guest speaker at a legislative luncheon hosted by the Newnan
Chamber of Commerce. High on the list of topics discussed were
issues affecting seniors. Bob Crutchfield (left), President/CEO of
Christian City, a senior community with over 1,000 residents
located in Union City, and Congressman Westmoreland share a

Hollingsworth House Hosts Chocolate Event for Promise Place
Saturday, May 17th will be a sweet day when the community
comes together to benefit victims of domestic violence at the
Hollingsworth House in Fayetteville. The City Cafe, Publix, Kroger's and
many other local businesses have generously donated a variety of chocolate
treats for guests to sample and enjoy all they can eat. The event is from
12pm to 7pm and will include activities for kids such as live music, face
painting and a petting zoo. Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for children
and can be purchased at the door.

Promise Place serves
over 1,000 women and children each year in Fayette, Pike, Upson and
Spalding counties. Services are free and include advocacy, help through
the legal system, a teen dating violence program in the Fayette County
schools, temporary shelter, transportation, and all that is needed to
help victims get back on their feet at a time of crisis. For more

Way of Life Community Church Presents the 2008 Tyrone Back to School

to a free backyard country and gospel concert to benefit Promise Place,
the Council on Domestic Violence that serves Fayette, Pike, Upson and
Spalding counties. The Sixth Annual Johnny Cochran Celebration of Life
concert will be held at 306 Tyrone Road in Fayetteville. Please bring your
lawn chairs, dinner and refreshments will be available. For more

FFP Note: Great fun, lots of music, fun things to bid on, plenty to
eat and lots of good fellowship. Cochran does this every year in his
backyard (plenty big) donating his time and efforts to get quality music
and involvement from the community (auction items, last time around Chic-fil-A
was there along with some other names you'd recognize but we can't
remember, etc.). I'm sitting in a chair my husband and I bid on and won as
I type this. Doing good and having fun at the same time, what could be
better?
