We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

4/26/08 (9:38 p.m.) Earlier this month, Andrea Foster, General Manager of
Staples of Fayetteville visited Hood Avenue to celebrate attendance performance
and honor the attendance award recipients for the month of March.
Every month
the class in each grade level with the highest percentage of attendance receives
a special visit from a community member who presents a trophy to their
classroom. The winners for the month of March were Ms. Hall for Kindergarten,
Ms. Stogsdill for First Grade and Ms. Groce’s class for Second Grade. Ms. Hall’s
class has won twice in a row.
Students were delighted to meet and greet Ms.
Foster. She told them that “Getting to school everyday is easy and keep up the
good work.” They look forward to Staples coming back to recognize the end of the
year attendance award winners at the pizza party.
Attendance Awards are designed to motivate students to come
to school everyday, and encourage community involvement in education. “Promoting
perfect attendance through rewards and recognition helps us to improve student
absenteeism. Research shows that the more students are in class the greater
their chances are to learn and reach their potential,” says Dr. Kiawana Kennedy,
Principal.
