Fayette Residents Take Civitan Leadership Roles

10/23/07 The Fayette County Civitan Club has elected new officers for the 2007 – 2008 fiscal year. These new officers will provide leadership for the Fayette County Civitan Club, as well as directing community service projects, organizing fundraisers and programming club meetings.

The Immediate Past President, David Tolbert feels the newly inducted leaders are going to have a year of success in being led by Carl Hall incoming President and Chuck Clanton incoming President-Elect to support the local organizations that the Fayette County Civitan Club continues to help. The Fayette County Civitan Club chartered in 1970 and has undertaken numerous service projects to improve the quality of life in the Fayette County community since their formation.

The induction of officers was officiated by Mr. Charles Ballard, a charter member of the Fayette County Civitan Club. The evening also offered a time of honoring the retiring member, Mr. Ernie Cannington for 27 years of service to the club.

Local Civitan clubs meet a wide variety of needs in their communities, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. The Civitan International Foundation continues this mission with a $20 million dollar commitment to its flagship project, the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
