770-460-2555 WHO ARE WE?
We are the state agency mandated by Georgia Law to
protect children and strengthen families. Our mission in this county is, in
partnership with our community, to assist individuals and families in achieving
safe, healthy, independent, and self-reliant lives.
WHERE ARE WE?
We are located at 905 Highway 85 South in Fayetteville,
about two miles south of Fayetteville.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We provide an array of social services to help children,
families, elderly, and the disabled. These services are aimed at protection of
those in imminent risk of harm, preserving and strengthening families, and
improving their general quality of life. Specifically, we provide temporary
financial assistance to needy families, employment assistance, childcare, food
stamps, Medicaid, child protective services, adult protective services, foster
care, and adoption. We also link our customers to available community resources
for assistance.
BUT, I HAVE HEARD THERE AREN’T ANY PROBLEMS IN THIS COUNTY… CAN YOU EXPLAIN?
In any community there will be some problems where
children and or adults may benefit from help, protection or supports. It is
true that the level of need is smaller in this county. However, according to
the 2000 Census, there was about 3% of the total population in the county living
at or below poverty level, or about 2,373 citizens. Continued rise in
unemployment also contributes to the need for social services supports. The
population is growing, and along with growth, there is a concurrent growth in
social problems.

HOW CAN THE FAYETTE COMMUNITY HELP?
We believe strongly in partnerships with our community.
We have several programs where concerned citizens offer time, support, and
sometimes money to assist in specific ways. This agency depends upon sponsors
during the year for specific projects like Easter baskets or school supplies.
We also have a new clothing project community members may become a part of,
which has been developed to assist school children in obtaining needed clothing.
We have a need for foster or adoptive parents. The local citizens can also
assist by reporting situations they feel may pose a risk to a child, disabled,
or elderly adult.
HOW DO I LEARN MORE?
If you would like to become a partner with us just call the
local office. If you know of someone who may be in harm’s way, you may also
call. If you would like for someone to come and speak with your group to
provide you with more details about specific programs or services, please call.
The main number to call is 770-460-2555.
