4-17-06 Around 15 years ago Eileen Patton and Asden Johnson
teamed up to form The Fayette Thrift Shop, Inc. The pair met in an
exercise class, became friends and after a time discovered they had a
desire to do something to help two local charities they supported.
Eileen was partial to the Battered Women's Council (now the Promise
Place) and Asden was passionate about the Fayette Youth Protection
Home. More

12-19-06 Promise Place, the Fayette
County Council on Domestic Violence, recognized Heidi
Becker at their annual Christmas party for her commitment
to the organization and her hours of volunteer work over
the past four years. The party, with over 75 in
attendance, was held at Chip's Tyrone Depot and included
victims and their children as well as volunteers, board
members and sponsors. Promise Place provides services to
over 1,200 men, women and children who are victims of
domestic abuse in the Griffin Judicial District each year.
Volunteers are always needed to answer the crisis line,
work in the office, help with fundraising events and with
the Teen Dating Violence classes that are taught throughout
the Fayette County schools. Currently, plans are in
place to open the first ever emergency shelter in Fayette

Love Chocolate? Eat All You Want and Feel Good
About It!
4/27/08 (10:31 p.m.) Promise Place, the council on domestic
violence that serves Fayette, Pike, Upson and Spalding counties is
inviting you to be a part of the May 17th fundraiser called Chocolate
Explosion. This fundraiser will allow local businesses to showcase their
chocolate treats to the public and at the same time help Promise Place to
raise money for their domestic violence shelter for women and children.
The event will be held at the Hollingsworth House on Hwy 54 in
Fayetteville between the hours of 1pm and 7 pm. Admission is $30 for
adults and $10 for children 11yrs and under and can be paid at the door.
There will be no advance ticket sales. For more information on Promise

2-20-07 To raise much needed funds for Promise Place, Fayette County's
Council on Domestic Violence, as they open the doors of the county's
first emergency shelter. Over the past 20 years, Promise Place has
grown from a small grassroots organization to active, community
recognized agency with four paid staff members and more than 50

Lance
Gauntt was recently elected President of Promise Place, the Fayette County
Council on Domestic Violence that serves the Griffin Judicial District. He
will preside over a historic all male Board of Directors who oversee the
operations of the the non profit organization that serves over 1,200
victims each year, ten percent of which are men.
Also elected were, Dave
Main, Vice President, George Martin, Secretary, and Jim Roy,
Treasurer.
"Promise Place is a much needed organization in our community
which provides a vast array of services to victims and their children at no
charge. I am honored and humbled to be elected to this position of leadership
to help the growing number of victims of this crime." Mr. Gauntt commented.

2/15/08 (10:16 p.m.) Promise Place, the council on domestic violence that
serves Fayette, Pike, Spalding and Upson Counties invites you to
join them for a live and silent art auction to be held at the Tyrone
Depot located at 847 Senoia Road, Tyrone, on Saturday, March 15th.
Admission is a donation of $15 per person or $25 per couple which
includes hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and hourly door prizes. Art
work provided by ARTcetra will include lithographs, oil and
watercolor paintings, celebrity and sports collectibles and works by
local artist Tracy Hartley. The auction will also include a new golf
cart and a 7 day stay at a Fabulous Tuscan villa! RSVP appreciated

Promise Place Cuts the Ribbon!

6/20/07 Monday morning friends and supporters of the
Promise Place gathered at the Fayette County Justice Center to celebrate the
opening of their new location. Due to the need for privacy, the ribbon
cutting could not be held at the new shelter...
Promise Place Moves, Emergency Shelter to Open in May

Darlene Pearson and Promise Place office manager, Rebecca Harris, visit at
the Fayette Thrift Store. Fayette Thrift Store has been a long time
supporter of Promise Place and the best place to drop clothing and small
household donations.
2-26-07 Promise Place, the Fayette County Council on Domestic
Violence, has moved their offices from Bradford Square in Fayetteville to an
undisclosed, "need to know basis" location. Eventually, the new location will double as an emergency shelter for women and children, scheduled to open
