We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

PTC Fire Department Rookies Welcomed to the Family
"Hold on tight," PTC Fire Chief Ed
Eiswerth said to the graduating class of recruits on September 13, 2007. "We're
going places."
Eight smiling men and women
proudly replaced their red training helmets for the shiny black helmets
which signify they have successfully joined the family of the PTC Fire
Department.
To earn the privilege of wearing the shiny black
helmet, these extraordinary residents have spent the last four months and
over 200 hours training to fight fires.
These graduates successfully
completed the National Professional Qualification Testing for Firefighter I
and Hazardous Materials Awareness.
In addition to the written tests,
the graduates also completed a rigorous training program and passed a
practical examination.
Graduates who live in Peachtree
City are now required to complete a certain number of training hours
and calls every month.
The new graduates who reside outside the city limits of
Peachtree City will be available 40 hours a month.
We at the Fayette Front Page wish to welcome the new Firefighters to
your new family in the PTCFD and thank you for your dedication in serving
the public. Peachtree City and Fayette County are better because of you.
Kevin McMullen (above) was honored as the top recruit as he
led the class in the overall scoring on the tests. Early on he was
recognized by the instructors as an outstanding firefighter recruit.
The rookies are John Ciancia, Michael Kendall, Joseph Lanave,
Sean Liverman, Kevin McMullen, Michael Noles, Martine Rose and Anthony
Schmit.
Chief Ed Eiswerth
Lt. Joe O'Conor stressed the city has a constant need for
volunteers. The next class of nine firefighter recruits will begin their
training on September 20, 2007, and are expected to graduate in January.
The Fire Department has three
classes a year for those men and women who have a true desire to serve our
community.

The graduation ceremony was attended by about 50 people.
Lt. Campbell was recognized for going the extra mile in training
the recruits. Joining Lt. Campbell in instruction over the last four months
were members of the B Shift who were recognized for their contributions
during the training period.
All members of the PCFD are
instrumental in assisting new firefighters. PCVFA Board Member Gary Half
welcomed the rookies to the ranks of firefighters.
