We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

Six essential qualities that
are the key to success: Sincerity, personal integrity, humility, courtesy,
wisdom, charity. - William Menninger
Patriot Day in Peachtree City was
stirring. The crowd was a cross-section of America at its best from tiny
children, to soldiers, to retirees and all those in between. Organizer Randy
Gaddo should be commended for his outstanding patriotism and his commitment
to promoting our military and those who serve our country in other ways.
We at the Fayette Front Page have
never been disappointed when attending any event Gaddo is involved. We
highly recommend planning to join in this moving event in 2008 and the years
that follow. - FFP
9/19/07 About 100 Freedom Walkers
trekked one mile from the intersection of TDK Boulevard and Dividend to the
CAF hangar on Sept. 15th in Peachtree City's first Freedom Walk. Organizer,
16-year old Sandy Creek junior Caitlin Dillon, organized the walk after
participating in a similar one last year in Newnan.
About 400 people attended the
event at the CAF hangar as bands from Rising Starr and Whitewater middle
schools played patriotic music, including the National Anthem, scouts led
the Pledge of Allegiance and guest speaker Nick Snider shared his views on
patriotism in America today. Snider pointed to Caitlin's efforts with the
Freedom Walk as indicative of what one person who cares can accomplish in
the name of patriotism.
During the event the "sound of
freedom" was heard in the background as vintage WWII aircraft from the CAF
took off for an air show in Rome, Ga. Vintage military vehicles and
equipment were also on display by the Georgia Military Vehicle Preservation
Association. Event coordinator Randy Gaddo commended the two middle school
bands - Rising Starr under direction of Steve Tyndall and Whitewater under
direction of Bill Melton - for their work preparing for the event in
addition to the hustle and bustle of a new school year. Gaddo said he was
pleased with the turnout for the event and looks forward to planning a
similar event for Patriot Day next year.
