Middle Schools Converge at Whitewater for

4/22/08 (3:51 p.m.) The sun was out and the weather was perfect
for the twenty second annual Peachtree City Invitational Track Meet for Middle
Schools last Saturday. Chapel Hill from Douglasville captured both the boys and
the girls championships. The Flat Rock boys team tied for fourth place with
Dutchtown from Henry County. Bennett’s Mill managed a fifth place to spark the
best girls effort of the meet. In all, fifteen schools participated in the grand
event. Only one meet record fell Saturday. Chapel Hill’s Hull broke the girls shot put record with a 32’1” toss, besting last year’s mark of 32’. Bennett’s Mill (BM) and Flat Rock (FR) girls claimed the only first place finishes for the Fayette County Schools. Ellen Husted, BM, won the high jump with a 5’ effort. Bree Handy, BM, won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.66 and Flat Rock’s Kaitlyn Taylor won the triple jump with a leap of 32’1 ¾”.
