We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

Mac Collins and Hollis Harris to Co-Chair
Ramsey for General Assembly
11/14/07 (10:51 p.m.) Former United States Congressman Mac Collins and former
Delta Air Lines President Hollis Harris announced that they will serve
as co-chairmen of Matt Ramsey's campaign for the Georgia House of
Representatives. Ramsey, a Fayette County attorney, is running in the
special election to fill the seat held by the late Dan Lakly.
Mac Collins represented Fayette County in the U.S. House of Representatives
from 1993-2005. In announcing his endorsement of Ramsey, Collins identified
Ramsey's conservative principles and knowledge of the 72nd District as the
basis for his support. "For six years, Matt served on my congressional
staff in both Washington and Georgia. I know firsthand about Matt’s work
ethic, and how he shares this community's values," Collins said. "I am
confident that he is the right man to represent the people of Fayette County
in the Assembly."
Collins, who was well known in Congress for taking strong stands against
increased taxes and spending, highlighted the importance of electing a
fiscally responsible candidate in this election. "When the General Assembly
considers comprehensive tax reform in the coming year, the people of Fayette
County would be well served by someone with Matt's legislative experience,
know-how, and commitment to limited government. We need a state
representative who works for Fayette’s citizens, not for special interests.
Matt has my endorsement." Ramsey gratefully received the endorsement of his
former boss by observing that "Mac Collins wasn't a politician, he was a
statesman. Georgia is a better place because of his years of public service
and I am honored to have him co-chair my campaign."
Joining Collins as co-chairman on the Ramsey campaign team is the former
head of Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, Air Canada and World Airways,
Hollis Harris. Harris, well-respected for his long and distinguished career
in the airline industry, pointed towards Ramsey's business experience in
offering his endorsement. "Matt is a small businessman himself, he
understands firsthand the burden that out-of-control government regulation
and taxation puts on business and families alike," Harris explained. "Matt
is committed to the conservative principles of restrained government that
will encourage economic growth in our community and our state." “Most
important, Matt has the kind of integrity and commitment to maintaining
Fayette County’s quality of life that we need representing us in the General
Assembly.” Upon receiving Harris’ endorsement, Ramsey noted "Hollis Harris
is a pillar of our community and I am truly grateful that he has agreed to
co-chair my campaign."
Ramsey went on to say, "Hollis and Mac are both highly
respected for their tremendously successful careers, but it is their integrity
and commitment to our community that I most hope to emulate."
The special election will be held on December 18, 2007.
