We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand
fibers connect us with our fellow-men; and along those fibers, as
sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as
effects.

Preschoolers to 'Celebrate Cultures' with Unity Circle, Costumes, Food and
Song
9/12/07 Twenty thousand preschool students are preparing for a
celebration of cultures, all in effort to emphasize the importance of diversity,
tolerance and respect for others. Dressed in silk gowns, saris or other ethnic
dress, the children will unite on Friday, September 28 to symbolize the unity of
children worldwide. Representing more than 160 Primrose schools in 15 states,
students will promote peace, join hands together and sing “It’s a Small World”.
Marking the end of a month-long curriculum dedicated to
culture ‘Around the World,’ the preschoolers will celebrate together their
unique cultures and parade around their schools. Parents will prepare Unique &
Cultural Dishes for the children to taste and experience foods from around the
world. Celebrating Cultures illustrates just one of the many ways Primrose
promotes character development among its students. The Primrose Balanced
Learning® curriculum combines the two leading philosophies in early childhood
education – teacher-directed and child-initiated learning – with a balance of
academics, character development and play.
“Children who learn these values at an early age develop into
caring, generous adults who love their community and respect others,” says Jo
Kirchner, president and CEO of Primrose. “The Balanced Learning® curriculum
assures that children are nurtured socially, emotionally, physically and
academically. This offers parents peace of mind. And peace of mind leads to a
happy, well-balanced family.”
