Flat Creek “Niners” Launch Golf Season
2/12/08 (2:12 p.m.) The Flat Creek “Niners,” a nine-hole ladies
golf league gets underway Tuesday, February 26 at the Flat Creek Golf Club.
After a continental breakfast, plans for the new season will be explained in a
10:00 a.m. organizational meeting.
“Niner” President Kathy Aspden said the group is open to all members of Canongate Clubs. The first outing on this year’s schedule is Tuesday, March 11 at 9:00 a.m.at Flat Creek. Annual dues are $35.00. New members are being welcomed. Veteran “Niner” Erin Knapik added “I think that the Niners is a great group for women who want to get out and meet people of all golfing abilities. It's a group that is less competitive and allows you to play in a friendly atmosphere while adhering to the rules of league play. I've learned so much more with these ladies than I ever would have otherwise about the rules of the game.” “Beginners are encouraged to have at least 5 clinic sessions or lessons with a golf pro, “ Aspden said. “That way they will have the basics of grip, stance, and swing under control before joining league play. Our focus this year will be to learn more about the pace of play, golf etiquette, and fundamental rules.” “It's a social atmosphere as well.” Aspden said. “You get to play with everyone eventually and having lunch afterwards is a good way to meet others. I'm looking forward to starting the season again.”
