Teen Driving Deaths in Georgia Reduced By 5%
10/22/07 The Joshua Brown Foundation is pleased to announce
that teen (age 15–19) driving deaths have been reduced by 5% in 2006,
according to Georgia’s Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. In 2006, there
were 177 deaths compared to 186 deaths in 2005. The foundation attributes
this decline due to the awareness about driver’s education created by Joshua’s
Law. In addition, the foundation is pleased to announce that at the start of
the 2007 – 2008 school year, 155 public high schools in the state are now
teaching driver’s education.
As a result, the Joshua Brown Foundation is currently working on similar legislation in other states to curtail teen driving deaths, such as: · Chris’s Law in New York · David’s Law in Massachusetts · Michelle’s Law in Ohio · Michael’s Law in Tennessee In addition, the Joshua Brown Foundation is embarking on a variety of other endeavors to raise awareness about 21st century driver’s education in hopes to further reduce teen driving deaths in the United States. In Georgia, Alan Brown is traveling around the state to speak with local school boards about driver’s education. On a national scale, he has been invited to speak in historic Cooperstown, New York in a town hall meeting in October.
